OUTDOOR JOB SKILLS CERTIFICATION
April 28 - May 8, 2008
A co-operative venture with Canadore College and Smoothwater, this is an intensive week of outdoor certification to get you ready for summer jobs and beyond. Includes wilderness first aid, ORCA Canoe Tripping Level 1, hiking leader, and Outdoor Cookery.
Includes lodging, meals, instruction and course materials. While on trip, food and equipment is included along with instruction. ORCA badges and certificates are awarded to successful participants.

COOKING WITH WILD EDIBLES: A CULINARY FORAGING ADVENTURE
Every Monday and Thursday, June through August.
$75 per person or $125 couple
Get your hands dirty in the Temagami wilderness in this workshop foraging for wild edibles and medicinals. Gently hike in the forest and discover a variety of indigenous plants that each tell a story about Temagami. Then follow the chef Caryn Colman into her kitchen and learn how to turn them into dinner. Wild mushrooms, stinging nettle, day lilies, dandelion, milkweed, rose petals and cedar are all fair game when it comes to breads, appetizers and desserts. You'll die for our wild rose ice cream!
This program is a combination of taste, activity and learning, featuring regional, organic ingredients and use of Smoothwater amenities.

TEMAGAMI CULINARY SHOWCASE: TEMISKAMING'S FINEST TERROIR DINNER & SPEAKER SERIES
Available every Saturday in July and August • $65 pp.
A perfect way to sample Smoothwater’s acclaimed organic cuisine and hospitality. The table will be themed and set with crystal and lamplight. The lodge will be full of wonderful aromas. Guests will enjoy a splendid meal followed by a local celebrity. Dinner is served at 7 p.m., but arrive by 6:30 for appetizers.


TEMAGAMI TREE HUGGER'S WEEKENDS: GUIDED PADDLE-HIKES

Starting every friday night from June 28 through August 30
Two nights/three days. Costs range from $670 per couple (in a private room)
to $285 per person (sleeping in the bunkie).

Imagine walking beside a creature over three hundred years old and upwards of sixty feet. These ancient red and white pine are the largest remaining stands in North America-- trees that have witnessed 300 years of history! This weekend is a combination of comfort, activity and learning, featuring naturalist canoe guides and special guest presentations in the evening. The end result is total rejuvenation. Go ahead, hug a tree. They hug back!

Daily yoga is the focus, with additional instruction in pilates, watercolor painting, an edible wild cooking class and holistic facials.  A highlight is the canoe-hike into Temagami's famous old growth forest (which will change you forever)  for peace, meditation and yoga.
Swimming, saunas and vegetarian, organic cuisine complements this holistic, rejuvenating retreat. Includes four nights lodging, and twelve vegetarian, organic meals.

We'll work daily, sometimes getting to location by canoe, other times by a little walking. Colour exercises, technique demos, and sharing of ideas are key elements in this enjoyable, creative learning experience that will open up your artist’s eye. Open to all media.
Includes four nights lodging, and twelve splendid meals featuring regional, wild, and organic cuisine.

SUPERMOM & DAUGHTER CANOE TRIP

where moms are taken care of as much as their daughters. Rise and shine with the sun. Bed with the stars. Explore and learn about native animals and plants. Swim to your heart's content and hike the spiritual ancient pine forests. Opportunities to bead, paint and enjoy unstructured play will be balanced with structured quiet times to promote inner stillness. A highlight of this trip is the opportunity for a vision quest (as a solo or paired experience) to bring focus to one’s inner strength and individuality.
