School Trips & Outdoor Education in Temagami

Smoothwater offers adventures in outdoor education based on the current and historic Temagami experience in northeastern Ontario. Our workshops, presentations and activities are experiential and curriculum linked. Each season offers exciting opportunities to learn. School outdoors makes learning more meaningful.

We challenge youth groups to examine ways in which their behaviours shape the world in which we live. This is a school trip that makes real, lasting differences in the lives and careers of today's youth.

Our Leadership Staff
Our leadership staff combines experience with outdoor certifications. We have fun teaching youth about the environment while snowshoeing and skiing, canoeing or hiking. We also partner with local resource people such as foresters, historians, mining and wildlife technicians, and First Nations groups for a balanced approach to geographic realities in Ontario. Even the meals at Smoothwater are all about experiential learning.

About the Food
Students love our food. We challenge them with healthy choices and culinary adventures. We walk the talk, supporting the local foodshed based on the 100 mile diet model. It's rewarding to cook with students, creating meals and baking bread.

Lodging Details
Separate bunkhouses for male and female students provide warm and comfortable dorm-style lodgings. Ensuite are large, segregated washrooms. Students and youth groups are required to bring their own sleeping bags and towels. Teachers and supervisors usually sleep in private rooms adjacent to the students for easy supervision.
